Tuning? Tuning, Anyone?
someone responsible to tuning the guitars was clearly absent this night.

Really Nice Show
This version is really nice - one gets a nice feeling for the audience but the music shines through. I attended this show with some student friends from Ann Arbor - lovely road trip and a great reward of a fine show. It had been about 5 years since my last Dead show and I remember really loving the way Jerry's guitar sounded, especially on Shakedown Street. Wonderful the way Jerry was always working on his sound. Solid 4 out of 5 stars IMHO.

This is just an absolutely fabulous recording !!!!!-- Jerome is totally on ....... subtle but yet powerful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like audience tapes better than soundboards when they sound this good... you can feel the energy of the Deadheads !!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for such a crispy slice of heaven !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That Shakedown is off the charts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second Set!!!! Five Star
Great quality aud. Lots of GUITARS and Phil.
The Playin' sequence is just amazing...the whole thing. Five star second set' three on the first. Best from 81 I like are the tour opener at Uptown Chicago, and KC in the summer. Set one Alpine Valley is good too...was at that one. And so much more to explore from 1981. Denver, too yes. Odd years theory most likely. ;-)-

This was a powerful show
I know this is a personal experience, but personal experiences tended to be shared by many at these things. Was it my imagination, or were there Hell's Angels participating during the drumz?? I remember there were many there at the concert. My friend and I were "experiencing" the water fountain, laughing to the point of not being able to breathe when one of them politely asked to use the fountain. When the second set started with Ramble on Rose, I was freaking out and it felt like my brain was being torn loose from it's moorings (whatever those are!) I thought they were starting with "he's gone" I was the one that was gone. Anyhow, I always wanted to know, were there Hell's Angels flanking the stage during The Wheel, with their backs to the audience showing their colors? I distinctly remember this. But also, I remember a fire breathing dragon rising from behind the drumset at the same time which is sort of less likely. This show was unusually powerful for me at this point in my life when many just didn't do much.

More Mellow
Hi quality recording of a hi quality early 80s show. Particlarly loved the slow, mellow tempo on Shakedown and the multiple segues in and out of Playin' (which is always nice).

Thank you for your time, efforts, and desire to share the wealth so freely, uploading fairies and also to the Archive for providing us w/ a relatively safe (Nov. 2005 SBD drama, not-withstanding) place for keeping em' w/ in the public domain.
